South Bank BID welcomes new Outreach Worker

The BID would like to extend a huge welcome to our new outreach worker, Mahia!

Our South Bank outreach worker is a position which has been fully funded by the BID since 2023, and functions as an extended member of the Thames Reach outreach worker team.

The position works in and around Waterloo Station to support those who are rough sleeping, by helping those vulnerable access accommodation and counselling, alongside supporting them to potentially move on to training and employment opportunities.

By funding an outreach worker to be based in the South Bank area permanently, local vulnerable groups are supported by having one consistent point of contact throughout, which provides a much more human experience during a very challenging time.

South Bank is home to one of the UK’s busiest train hubs, and multiple landowners, and thus also benefits from a locally based Outreach Worker who understands the unique dynamics of the area. Mahia will work closely with our BID Security Manager and Place Making team to provide a coordinated and supported approach.

Thames Reach is a London based charity that has been operating over the past thirty years under the mission of helping people who are homeless or vulnerable to find decent homes, build supportive relationships and lead fulfilling lives. Working in collaboration through this role builds on the BID’s continual work in partnership to help provide comprehensive and considered services for South Bank.
