On 10 September, members of the BID delivery team hosted a South Bank night-time walkabout with colleagues from Lambeth Council and the Greater London Authority. The walkabout included consideration of access, and safety and security issues, and included the subways around the BFI IMAX, the Queen’s Walk, the London Eye area, York Road and Leake Street.
The walkabout involved engagement with a range of businesses and employees who work in the night-time economy; these views and perspectives will help shape Lambeth Council’s Night-Time Strategy, which is under development. The BID has also fed directly into this strategy too.
In conjunction with South Bank Employers’ Group, the BID also submitted evidence in response to the London Assembly’s call for evidence on the Night-time Economy. The submission drew on and referenced views and perspectives provided by businesses in the area, and also referenced the complex set of challenges that businesses face in the context of the recovery from the pandemic, alongside opportunities for growth and delivery.
