South Bank BID helps support LGBT+ Hate Crime Awareness event and workshop

The BID, alongside community partners like Lambeth links and the Met Police, has helped support a local workshop dedicated to LGBT+ Hate Crime Awareness.

The purpose of this event is to engage with organisations, charities, businesses and the wider LGBT+ Community to provide an understanding and awareness of hate crime. This includes the stages of external support, including the processes and importance of reporting hate crime, how investigations are carried out by police, the process of the investigation once it has gone to CPS, the support services available and how to make a complaint if unhappy with the services provided.

The workshop will be a safe space for the community to come, learn and raise their own concerns/questions, and have the opportunity to feedback what more can be done to help you feel safer in the community and ask questions.

There will be a number of speakers including Met Police Officers and senior leaders, Lambeth Links, Crown Prosecution Service, Lambeth and Southwark Council, Support Services, Independent Office for Police Conduct to discuss making a complaint about the police and the processes. There will also be outreach stalls from a number of organisations offering advice and support on Sexual Health, HIV prevention, Trans Services, STI’s, Contraception, Consent and Stealthing.

The event will take place on March 25th, in the Riverside Rooms in County Hall, from 10:30 – 15:00.
