Paddington Mural wins at the Travel Marketing Awards!

We're delighted to announce that the Paddington Mural, which South Bank BID helped support alongside local partners, has won first place in the 'Best Use of Out of Home' category at the Travel Marketing Awards!

The mural was delivered in partnership with Network Rail, the Canary Wharf Group, London & Partners, and Studio Canal UK, to celebrate Paddington Bear becoming London's first ever Welcome Ambassador.

First unveiled last October, the mural was created by Peruvian artist Gisella Stapleton, whose work draws from Latin American folklore and popular art. The importance of honoring her roots, culture and memories of her homeland as well as the empowerment of Latin women are core themes in Gisella's artwork.

In the months since its installation the mural, located opposite Waterloo Station on Sutton Walk, has become a recognisable and iconic local attraction in its own right. Millions of visitors have paid a visit to London's friendliest and most loved ambassador, embracing the fact that in London, "everyone is different, and that means anyone can fit in".

You can also pay a visit to Paddington in the Paddington Bear Experience, based in County Hall.
