Security in South Bank: A Round-Up

Our security teams have been busy throughout May, continuing to work collaboratively with the local Police as footfall levels in the BID area rise.

Joint activity has been focused on areas highlighted by local businesses as ongoing concerns, including theft and illegal trading.

This collaborative approach to working delivers good results that helps keep the entire BID area safe and secure. On the last May Bank Holiday weekend alone, the team delivered joint work which included:

  • The arrest of a young male for multiple thefts across Lambeth, who was subsequently recalled to prison for several months.

  • Three individuals were arrested in connection with an illegal gambling scam targeting tourists on Westminster Bridge.

  • Two individuals were arrested for possession of stolen property and illegal substances - this led to four phones being returned to their owners within 30 minutes.

  • One peanut trolley was seized in connection to illegal street trading.

  • Several other arrests for offences including drink driving, indecent exposure, and theft.

Patrols continue to be ongoing in the BID area, with emphasis recently on phone theft - these have been delivering great results, which we are excited to share with BID levy payers soon.
