Raising awareness with the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender- based Violence campaign

16 Days of Activism Against Gender-based Violence is an international campaign running from 25 November to 10 December.

The annual campaign encourages communities across the world to speak out against sexism and misogyny, and to engage with local organisations who are actively working to tackle issues surrounding gender-based violence and make women and girls feel safer everywhere.

White Ribbon Day 2025

On 25 November South Bank Patrol joined our partners from South Western Railway at the International White Ribbon Day activation on the Waterloo Station concourse which kicked off this year’s 16 Days of Activism.

This year’s White Ribbon campaign was held under the banner We Speak Up, encouraging the public to actively commit to speaking up for women and girls in everyday situations.

As part of our White Ribbon commitment, our BID Security Manager has registered to become a White Ribbon Ambassador. Ambassadors are men and people who identify as men who have pledged to take the White Ribbon message about speaking up into their workplaces, communities, friendship groups and families, and to work on raising awareness about harmful definitions of masculinity and promoting positive traits such as empathy and care.

Find out more about how you can become a White Ribbon Ambassador and access the White Ribbon Resource Hub which contains training, awareness-raising tools and learning materials, here.

The Women’s Night Safety Charter

Continuing our commitment to making South Bank a safe and welcoming place for all, South Bank BID has also registered as a supporter of the Mayor of London’s Women's Night Safety Charter (WNSC). The Charter is part of London’s commitment to the UN Women Safe Cities and Safe Public Spaces global initiative, and any organisation that operates at night can join.

Find out more about signing up to the Charter and download the toolkit packed with actionable resources, created in partnership with the Good Night Out Campaign on the Mayor’s website here.
