South Bank BID Chief Executive takes on role as Chair of British BIDs

South Bank BID is happy announce that Chief Executive of the BID, Nic Durston, has been appointed as Chair of British BIDs.

British BIDs is one of the UK and Ireland’s leading member organisations for Business Improvement Districts, delivering a range of services across training, policy making and guidance. Nic has acted as the Chair of the British BIDs Advisory Board since it’s inception in 2019, when British BIDs was acquired by Savills: in the period since, the Advisory Board has helped steer a collective industry response towards many different factors impacting BIDs today, including the COVID-19 pandemic, business recovery and business rates revaluation.

Nic will retain his duties as Chief Executive of both South Bank BID and South Bank Employers’ Group (the delivery agent of the BID), with the Chair role acting as an extension of the work delivered through the Advisory Board by focusing on strategy, governance and policy across the BID industry. The additional opportunity created by the Chair position to both work collaboratively with BIDs throughout the UK and key external stakeholders also allows the BID to bring these insights and visions into its own services and delivery, particularly as the BID looks towards its third term.

Nic Durston, Chief Executive of South Bank BID and Chair of British BIDs, comments: “I am very pleased to take on the role of Chair. This is a logical step from my role as Chair of the Advisory Board, given how British BIDs has grown and developed in the past three years. British BIDs is a fantastic organisation and I’m delighted to be working with the team and colleagues at Savills as we look ahead.”

Graeme Clark, Head of UK Retail Management within Property Management at Savills, comments: “Recognising the need to strengthen and enhance our British BIDs team, we are delighted to welcome Nic as Chair continuing on from his role on the Board. Nic brings with him a wealth of knowledge and experience having worked within the Board for over three years, and we look forward to continuing momentum in future.”
