To help maintain a consistent police presence in the area, South Bank BID funds two s92 Partnership Plus Police Offers.
These two Officers undertake strategic operations in collaboration with the BID's Security Manager, South Bank Patrol, MPS and wider local stakeholders, tackling areas identified by businesses as particular concerns, such as phone thefts, and illegal street trading.
Since the two S92 Officers were re-implemented in September 2022, they have been across multiple joint operations which have included:
Targeted initiatives on phone snatching, particularly outside the major tourist attractions
Illegal street trading on Westminster Bridge
Working in tandem with local businesses to minimise bag thefts, and educate visitors on the potential dangers
The BID has also invested in the fit-out of a dedicated Police Room in Southbank Place, with support from Canary Wharf (the developers of Southbank Place). A Police Room located in central South Bank means that security initiatives can be delivered much more strategically and collaboratively across these different teams, keeping both intel and resources within the neighbourhood. This Police Room is due to be opened in late 2023.
