South Bank BID supports Shaping Our Future event at Lambeth Palace

South Bank and Waterloo Sustains Us hosted its annual Shaping Our Future event on Wednesday 29 October 2025 at Lambeth Palace, bringing together local organisations, community groups, and businesses to reflect on progress and shape priorities for the neighbourhood’s next five years.

South Bank BID was proud to attend and support the event, which highlighted the collective ambition for a fairer, greener, and net zero South Bank and Waterloo by 2030. It was great to be joined by several of our BID members, who took part in discussions on how the business community can play an active role in shaping a more sustainable neighbourhood.

Marking one year since the launch of Sustains Us in October 2024, the event provided an opportunity to share updates, celebrate achievements, and explore how local collaboration can deliver high-impact projects across the neighbourhood. Discussions focused on energy systems, air quality, climate resilience, and resource efficiency – all central to creating a sustainable future for South Bank.

The afternoon began with a guided tour of Lambeth Palace, highlighting recent energy-efficiency refurbishments, including solar panels, a new energy centre, and the food grown from the Palace’s kitchen garden.

Attendees then gathered in the Guard Room for reflections on the Sustains Us programme, followed by a workshop where they explored neighbourhood priorities for the next five years to 2030. The session generated ideas for joint projects and highlighted the role of partnership between local businesses, community groups, and residents in achieving meaningful impact.

South Bank BID was pleased to support an event that brought together stakeholders from across the area to shape the neighbourhood’s future – reinforcing the shared commitment to creating a thriving, inclusive, and sustainable South Bank.
