Just over six months ago, London’s South Bank became a little more green as Shrek and all his DreamWorks friends burst onto the Queen’s Walk at their new home; Shrek’s Adventure! London.
The attraction is aimed at families with children aged between 6 and 12, however it has been enjoyed by visitors of all ages and achieved successful peak periods during school holidays as well as welcoming school groups, young families and tourists during term time.
The adventure begins as guests are whisked away on a 4D magic bus tour with Donkey as their driver before crash-landing in Shrek’s swamp where a fantastic, immersive adventure awaits. Familiar characters from the Shrek franchise greet guests along the way as they are invited to step quite literally into the action and steer their adventure in the right direction – all the way to meet the great green ogre himself!
The attraction is brought to life through a combination of live action, immersive sets and state-of-the-art technology. Characters such as Donkey and Puss in Boots appear right before your eyes thanks to clever projections and maybe even a little touch of magic!
There is even the opportunity to meet characters from other DreamWorks films, such as How to Train your Dragon and Madagascar. Coming March 2016 a brand new ‘Kung Fu Training Academy’ will be available for all guests, just in time for the release of DreamWorks’ latest film Kung Fu Panda 3. Guests will be able to meet Po as well as trying their hand at a few kung fu moves themselves!
In April, the attraction will be offering special after-hours opening times for over-18 Shrek fans to relish the nostalgia and see what the residents of Far Far Away get up to after dark. Guests will receive a glass of complimentary ‘swamp juice’ before embarking on their adventure. Along the way they will enjoy all the normal twists and turns of the attraction including a script peppered with adult humour. There’s even time for a quick shot in the Poison Apple Pub!
