Lambeth Council and Southwark Council have announced that the support for businesses legally required to close during the period of national lockdown through the Local Restrictions Support Grant (Closed) scheme is now available, from both Councils.
On 31 October the Government announced that businesses in certain non-essential retail, hospitality and leisure sectors were ordered to close for a 28 day national lockdown period from Thursday 5 November to Wednesday 2 December 2020. As part of this a further financial support scheme was announced for businesses that had been required to close: a full list of businesses required to close is available on the Gov UK website.
If your business qualifies, you should have been notified of your eligibility by your respective Council via email.
- For Lambeth businesses, to apply for the scheme you must complete the following form to request payment.
- For Southwark businesses, to apply for the scheme, please submit your information here.
On completion of your application, both Councils will perform further checks on eligibility and if approved, a single payment will be made for each 28 day period from 5th November 2020 that these national restrictions apply.
The level of support available for the 28 day period of closure will be based on the rateable value of the premises:
- Qualifying businesses with a rateable value of between £15,001 and £50,999 will receive a payment of £2,000.
- Qualifying businesses with a rateable value of £51,000 and over will receive a payment of £3,000.
Grant payments under the Local Restrictions Support Grant (Open) are also open for Southwark businesses – these apply to businesses impacted by Tier 2 restrictions imposed in October. For further information and to apply, please see here.
Equivalent grants for Lambeth businesses will be made available at a later date, and eligible businesses will be contacted about these in due course. For further details, please see here.
