The South Bank BID coordinated and attended a joint ‘Lambeth BIDs’ stall at Lambeth Country Show at the request of Lambeth Council, alongside This Is Clapham and We Are Waterloo BIDs. The aim was to present the work of BIDs in Lambeth and spread the word as to what, who, and why BIDs exist today. We wanted to demonstrate that BIDs work for the local community and not just for the businesses within it, highlighting the fact that our organisation is committed to greening, cleaning and maintaining the public spaces South Bank as well as keeping the area safe.
Councillor Jack Hopkins, Cabinet Member for Regeneration, Business and Culture had this to say about BIDs: “With six BIDs across Lambeth town centres, we have seen what a positive impact it can have to bring businesses together and create an income for that specific area. Local people and businesses know what the priorities should be and a BID gives them a real opportunity to lead. A strong business community means a strong local economy and that simply brings more jobs and opportunities for Lambeth residents.”
